SATAN WORKS QUIETLY
The devil is
the Father of all lies. At the core of his being he is a liar, a
con artist, the deceiver. His whole being is dedicated to deceiving
God’s people by cleverly leading them away from God.
He doesn’t
use a frontal attack; that’s Hollywood Box Office and TV shows looking for a
large audience. He knows that a frontal attack would be too obvious.
Good Christians would stand firm against him. He works quietly, coming as
a thief in the night or as an angel of light in the day. Whatever God
does, the devil has a counterfeit. One counterfeit is to suggest that we
do certain good works “for God.”
He spins his
web quietly, using words of light, quotes from scripture and “theologians”
to support his leadings. He comes with good ideas, fresh spring
water—slightly tinged with arsenic. He reminds us that the glass
contains mountain spring water, which it does! The slight
alteration, however, is not mentioned or, if we spot it, he’ll find someone to
ridicule it as paranoia.
The devil is
not opposed to good works, he is opposed to Jesus. He is eager to make the
trade—feed the gullible one good work after another until their prayer life
suffers or dies. Duped by the evil one, they bring his darkness to their
works. Clever!
The
undiscerning find themselves so busy “working for God” that they have
no time for Him. God slowly fades into the background.
There is no
end to the devil’s trickery. We hope to expand this topic some more in
future Minis, by unmasking some tricks we have seen him use.
If you have a daily intimate
time with the Lord, you can live relaxed and joyful in your
watchfulness. So, “Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.”
