REFUSING FORGIVENESS
Do you know
people who are happy only when they are miserable?
A group of
people we know decided that they were “dysfunctional.” That was the
in-word at the time. They wanted to form a group to “help” one
another. Within three months, the group dissolved. With everyone
constantly wallowing in their misery, the “poor me, poor you” meetings were
hardly uplifting and healing.
Many
Christians do the same with the Lord. After they are forgiven, and their
sins buried forever, they are deceived into rushing back to dig up their vomit
and roll around in it. What an insult to the Lord Who said “Your sins
are forgiven.” Even though God says “I will remember their sin no
longer," some people insist on remembering.
The evil one
is deceit personified. He cleverly concocts lies and adds his form of
chocolate or sugar-coating to add appeal. The evil one loves to
regurgitate the past, then disguise it to make it appealing, and invite us to
take it back.
